June 1, 2012 – Houston – The Greater Houston Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) will host their 2012 Fall Extravaganza at the Bayou City Events Center, 9401 Knight Road, Thursday, Sept. 20, 4 – 8 p.m. The event offers a great opportunity to see the Bayou City Events Center, which was the overall winner in the Mid-West Steel Building Company 2011 Design Build competition.

The Center is close to 50,000 square feet and opened in April of 2011. It is located near Downtown Houston and the Texas Medical Center, and has the largest banquet capacity of any non-hotel venue in the city.

The Center’s focal point is a 21,750 square foot grand ballroom that can host up to 2,500 guests. It also features the Lakeview ballroom, a smaller, intimate room with large picture windows and a beautiful fireplace. The ballroom ceilings feature extensive decorative ceiling ornamentation, with carved plaster crown moldings, corbels and high-end lighting fixtures, including large chandeliers. In the foyer, highly polished custom-designed tile flooring is set into an intricate pattern.

The ABC event is a combination barbecue cook-off and employee appreciation event, with food, fun, displays and $5,000 in prizes to be given away. Guides, vendors, and suppliers from the hunting, fishing and construction industries will be on hand to showcase the newest trends and techniques.

Suppliers and outdoor guides/outfitters/vendors can purchase booths for $250 each. Five admission tickets are included with each booth reservation. Barbecue cook-off teams will compete for a cash prize. There is a $150 entry fee for all teams. The fee goes toward the cash prize for the winner, and includes five entry tickets. Sponsorships are also available. Sponsors receive a banner, on-stage announcements and website recognition. Beverage sponsorship is $400; gun sponsorship is $350; and event sponsorship is $250.
