The Galaxy FBO project, located at the Lone Star Executive Airport in Conroe, Texas, was named Structure of the Year in the 2013 Mid-West Design Build Competition. The project includes a three-story terminal building, a twin hangar facility and support buildings. E.E. Reed Construction, Houston, was the General Contractor
Mid-West provided the two nearly identical state-of-the-art hangars which are each approximately 37,000 square feet. They are 295’-9” wide x 126’-0” long, with a 42’-6” eave height and symmetrical large barrel roofs that each has a 675 ft. radius.
The roof panels are 24-gauge Snow White BattenLokR and wall panels are 24-gauge Ash Gray PBR. Each building was fitted with a 235’ wide x 28’ high clear hangar door system. The door systems consist of ten bottom rolling door leafs – each weighing approximately 6,800 lbs. Each door system has four electric Well-Bilt Industries 200ID series in-line door operators which open and close the doors in approximately two-and-a-half minutes.
Mid-West also supplied a 16,000 square foot arrival canopy which is large enough to accommodate the largest corporate jets. The arrival canopy is 168’-2” wide x 101’-0” long with a single slope and has a 35’-2” low side eave height with a ¼ to 12 roof slope.
